Dave Art Gallery will be on view at Booth D2 of ManilArt 2020, located at the 3rd Level of SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig from December 9 – 13, 2020. Featuring the following visual artists: Rax Bautista, Jeff Dahilan, Ella Hipolito, Ronna Manansala, Katrina Pallon, Pancho Piano, Fernando Sena, Valen Valero and Melissa Yeung Yap.

Rax Bautista specializes in textured abstract art. They feature mixed media by exposing the inner depths of her emotion in every fracture of her work. Her travels around the world inspires her art. Whether be it at the top of a cold mountain or unto the vast ocean and under, the emotion she had reflects on her art. “Traveling is a passion. My soul needs it. Jeff Dahilan is a an award-winning artist from Laguna whose artworks have made rounds here and internationally. He devised a way to present images into three-dimensional illusions using geometric triangulation. “Most of my paintings intimate silence. They invite subdued attention and does not impose meaning beyond what the viewer sees. The combination of divergent forms and techniques make the works speak for itself. Only those with discerning eyes see what I see…” – Jeff Dahilan

Ella Hipolito’s artistic journey started in her hometown of San Mateo, Rizal (Philippines). She is a graduate of Fine Arts at The College of the Holy Spirit, Mendiola Manila. Ella used to work as an art director in an advertising agency before going full-time visual artist in 2015. Her current “Wisp series” commenced in 2018 and was initially called “Phantasm series”.  It was inspired by the folklore will-o’-the-wisp, an atmospheric ghost light seen by travelers at night.

Ronna Manansala is the granddaughter of Philippine National Artist, Vicente S. Manansala. Despite the familial association, Ronna rises to the role of artist in her own right, as she has also received many accolades for her art. As a former ballet dancer, ballerinas inspire Ronna whom she captures in many of her pieces. Ronna is also avidly involved in animal rescue and hopes her paintings through sales proceeds can contribute to finding homes for the many stray cats and dogs. Her work has been widely featured in exhibits, books, and magazines throughout Manila and abroad such as London, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Washington, DC, and Canada.

Katrina Pallon is a visual artist whose strong imagery and conceptual vocabulary inform her distinctive paintings and drawings that utilize a variety of mediums. Known for her maximalist style, Katrina’s paintings and illustrations reflect her strong affinity for elaborate designs and love for elevating even the simplest of subjects through her meticulous attention to detail. Pallon has carved a name for herself in the Philippine art scene for her creative pieces that embody the beauty of Pan-Asian culture.

Pancho Piano is an award-winning artist, whose paintings and stained glass designs focus on Bicolano myths and traditions, most especially the Bicolano devotion to the Lady Peñafrancia. He has mounted more than thirty solo exhibitions and participated in over 50 group exhibitions, in the Philippines, as well as  Japan, Saipan, USA, France, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland. Pancho has also won over 10 major national competitions in the Philippines.

Fernando Sena is considered the Father of the Philippine Art Workshop for his tireless efforts in sharing his knowledge and talent with those who wish to learn. Sena is the most consistent, devoted and longest-lasting teacher-painter in the country today. He has awakened hundreds of children and adults to the joys and challenges of art for several decades now.

Valen Valero’s works are the reflection of her thoughts and beliefs – a product of time, experiences and encounters. Valero layers her works with mixed vocabularies and images that include overlapping and entangled elements such as boxes, lines with bold and subdued colors. Upon closer inspection, these elements disappear and reappear, showing a dynamicity and fluidity that represents emotional states and psychological suggestions.

Melissa Yeung Yap is a Filipina visual artist who actively works on empowering disadvantaged sectors of society through social entrepreneurship. Having immersed with various indigenous communities and also having vastly traveled around the world, her art reflects a unique lens – that of a global woman who has integrated her appreciation of both indigenous and modern art. She has mounted solo and group shows in the London, Tokyo, Sydney, Vienna, Wales, Fukuoka, Macau, Singapore and the Philippines.
