Katinko Artbox: Healing Through the Arts and Creativity

We’ve got exciting news for our dear Titos and Titas of Manila! Katinko, our favorite personal care brand is now selling their balms, oils, and ointments in gorgeous, wooden boxes, designed by Filipino artists.

Katinko Artbox is the brainchild of Greenstone Pharmaceutical to promote Filipino artists and to help keep art alive in this time of pandemic.

Katinko is a quality Filipino brand, which clearly takes in being Filipino. They want to create this unique concept and collaborate with Filipino artists whose artistry and talent they’d like to support and promote. For this, they also collaborated with Woodprints Manila, which printed the masterpieces on repurposed and recycled wood.

While Katinko helps relieve pain and itch, they also believe in the healing power of art. This project allows Katinko to deliver their products while also bringing art closer to their customers, with the hope that it’ll bring smiles to their faces.

They collaborated with some artists like: Francis Nacion, Carlo Ongchangco, Kublai Millan, Rishab Tibon, Dave Bagtas, Melissa Yeung Yap, Katrina Pallon, Jinky Rayo, Kenneth Montegrande, Bryan Yabut, Dhennis Sigua, Rene Robles, and Emman Sia.

They are also featuring the artworks of the following artists: Rigor Esguerra, Fernando Sena, Lino Acasio, Aris Bagtas, Tanya Gaisano, Nikko Pelaez, Ysa Gernale, Yel Cast, Wencyl Mallari.

The Katinko art box is a 7.5″ x 10.5″ wooden box hand-painted by our local talents. Inside the box are 8 of Katinko’s products – their alcohol, ointment, balm, oil roller, inhaler, stick, and spray, which are very useful arsenal to combat pain, itch and stress.

Each box costs P1,500, with a part of the proceeds allocated to the artists. There is also a personal story and vision behind each of their work of art, which the artist himself explains on Instagram.

Aside from these boxes, Katinko has also been doing art therapy workshops. The Katinko art therapy workshops were in Tacloban during Yolanda, Marawi during the siege, and also in various orphanages and public schools. This is great news and Katinko further shares that they plan on continuing this project. Additionally, Katinko is hopeful that they will be able to get to work on more public art installations and exhibits that the public can enjoy.
