Aner Sebastian’s work for “Utopia” lies in the reconciliation of opposites — the humdrumness of reality with the dream of paradise based in nature, and the rise of the fragile over the powerful.

Aner Sebastian’s oeuvre intends to explore the numerous possibilities of manifesting the psyche of nature, resulting in the production of a new order of an element. He presents his audience with new realities, experiences, and meanings in what must be considered a paradigm shift within the discipline of traditional painting.

There is a sense of biomorphic elements in Sebastian’s works — drawing on the natural symmetries of crystals combined with the landscape elements of flora and fauna. The artist’s signature abstract collage elements integrate themselves in the works on canvas.

His paintings act as a vehicle, which transports the viewer to this strange and divine world where unpredictable and magical events occur.

Aner Sebastian (b.1964) is a visual artist hailing from Manila. He is a fine arts graduate with a degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Painting from Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST). Sebastian also became a faculty of the FEATI School of Fine Arts from 2005 to 2018,  and proudly mentored several fine arts students who are  also  currently actively enthralled  in painting. “Utopia” is his 12th solo exhibition.
