“PRISMATIC VISIONS” Marge Organo

Marge Organo’s latest works are fundamentally a paean to the human figure. While each piece varies in composition and design, she creates works within a series of graceful forms allowing the viewer to understand the human condition better.

Using glass as her medium she utilizes its transparency, mirror surfaces and  translucency to permit one to “see through” her sculpted images and figures. In effect, she offers more than what the eye can see providing an opportunity for a deeper exploration of her own insights and vision of humanity. They become, under Organo’s meticulous artistic baton, “windows of perception”.

The elegance of the medium only helps to enrich the visual experience further. Organo’s creative artworks prove to be three-dimensional canvases that present a larger narrative: that the human being is full of complexities. Some of her figures are warm, protective and watchful while others are coy, coquettish and reserved.  Still others are tender, while others are statuesque, stylish and dignified or playful, determined, if not refined and sophisticated.  The commonality amongst all of them though are they are all colorful acclamations to the female form.

Starting barely less than a decade ago while focusing first on the rudiments of painting Margo Organo then moved to figurative sculpture using resin and bronze as her earlier media. She then moved on to pursue studies in glass sculpture at the prestigious and internationally renowned Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, where she was awarded a scholarship at her 2nd year of study in that prestigious institution. After her stint at Corning, she was accepted at the Kamenicky Senov, the oldest glass making school in the world located in the Czech Republic. There she learned glass casting under the tutelage of topnotch Czech artists. Taking various techniques she has learned from these leading institutions and from her own practice, Organo continuously hones her craftsmanship bringing her art to a much higher level.

With her unique approach to glass forms, she manages to incorporate different figurations that play with diffused light. In this manner, Organo succeeds in making light bend through various refractions and reflections in ways that seem almost implausible. How she manages to achieve this effect in her practice speaks of her measured method and highly cerebral approach to bringing her glass art to higher levels. “Prismatic Visions” by glass sculptor Marge Organo will be showcased at Galerie Joaquin, located at Level 3, Podium Mall, ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City from June
