Currently on view at the Galerie CMG is the group exhibition titled “Lifescapes,” a presentation of the recent works of the artists of the Aroma Art Atelier (AAA)..
Founded in 2015 by acclaimed artist Orley Ypon, AAA is based in Toledo, Cebu. The group is named after a thorny plant called Aroma which abounds in the region. AAA also undertakes the training and mentorship of young Cebuano students who have shown an interest and talent in the craft of painting.
The inspirational figure and mentor of AAA, Orley Ypon was designated a “Living Master” by the Art Renewal Center, an American organization leading the revival of Realism. Ypon won the First Prize in the Figurative Category of its 2012 International Salon Competition. In 2009, Ypon was also Grand Prize Winner in the International Artist Magazine’s International Painting Competition, in the People and Figure Division. He was the recipient of the 2011 “Dangal ng Ani” award, presented by the National Commission on Arts and Culture (NCCA).
Participating artists in “Lifescapes” are: Orley Ypon, Darby Vincent Alcoseba, Maria Francisca Andraianne Juarez, Rembert Quimada, Daniel Yu, Tranquilino Ypon, Ricky Eslao, Dariush Libre, Renulo Pautan, Mark Belicario, Winnafe Adlawan, Edzel Libre, Kim Postrano, Ruel Amistad, Rainier Duhaylungsod, Lucas Ranola, Angie Ypon Garbo, Jerome Sato Castillo, and Luis King.
“Lifescapes” runs until March 20.
