Year-end gallery shows are a perfect time for a re-appraisal, recalibration , even reminiscence, of the past twelve months’ labor of love: artmaking in every species and tendency of self-expression. Artist Demetrio Dela Cruz, curator of “#artMerge!” on view at Art Anton (Nov 8-Dec 27), aptly declares: “Pop surrealism, Impressionism and modern abstraction are fused with kinetic sculptures, realistic painting and video installation in a combination of distinctive artworks that plays hand-in-hand to portray exploration of different concepts leading to a cross-sampling of discipline in one engaging visual sweep.”
